QBit Semiconductor announced today it has been formally organized as QBit Semiconductor LTD., a Taiwan company. The Chinese name is 通寶半導體設計公司. QBit started with US$5 million seed capital from New Kinpo Group (NKG), a major Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer. QBit is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of NKG. QBit expects in the future to become a joint venture company as other investors join NKG to invest in QBit. QBit was formed by a team of former Qualcomm engineers who developed the widely adopted Quatro family of system-on-chip (SOC) integrated circuits for printer and scanners.
